Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen ist im Jahre 1903 von der Gemeinde angenommen worden. Mit dem Burgmotiv ist eventuell die Yburg, das Herrschaftszentrum der Sinzheim-Steinbacher Mark im Mittelalter, oder eher die abgegangene Altenburg gemeint, die bis 1404 Sitz der Ritter von Sinzheim war. Ein Wappenschild mit Kreuz und Sester begegnet bereits im ältesten, kurz vor 1495 (erster Abdruck) gestochenen Gerichtssiegel, wobei der Sester, das Ortszeichen, als Kreis mit waagerechtem Querstrich gezeichnet und in den oberen Halbkreis das Kreuz, in den unteren ein liegendes Rebmesser gesetzt ist. Die im Gemeindewappen verwendete Form des Sesters findet sich erstmals auf Grenzsteinen des 18. Jahrhunderts. Die Flagge wurde am 14. Dezember 1981 vom Landratsamt verliehen.
