Object history
Deutsch: Der Greif und der widersehende Mann sind dem Wappen der Adelsfamilie Hiltrich entnommen, die sich nach ihrer oldenburgischen Heimat von Varell nannte. Sie prägte über sechs Generationen lang bis zu ihrem Aussterben 1765 den Ort. In der Pfarrkirche von Untersteinach erinnern zahlreiche Grabdenkmäler aus dem 16. bis 18. Jahrhundert an diese Familie.
